2019
We’re going to end wealth-based incarceration in Cook County.
Since 2015, we’ve paid over $1,100,000 in bond to free more than 225 people from Cook County Jail and electronic monitoring, and we’ve proven that money bond serves no one but the courts, cops, and jailers. But paying bond alone is not enough. We need to end this system that preys on the poor.
We’re making progress towards a world in which we don’t have to purchase our neighbors’ freedom. Over the past 20 months, the number of people incarcerated in Cook County Jail dropped from 7,500 to 5,700. CCBF and our partners made this happen with the pressure we placed on Cook County’s Chief Judge to end this corrupt system.
Your support enables Chicago Community Bond Fund to continue paying bond every week while building the campaign needed to make sure no one is in jail simply because they cannot afford to pay a money bond. With your partnership, we’re going to end money bond in Cook County.
Thank you for your continued support.
