Simon is one of the most driven young people to come through the Connecting Champions program. An aspiring Spielberg, Simon shares his passion for film and storytelling with Fatimah, an Atlanta-based animator and founder of her own company. Their first few calls revolved around discussing their favorite movies and various creative approaches that resonate with them. As their relationship has evolved, so have their conversations. One of their favorite calls together focused on “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” a popular movie that Simon and Fatimah analyzed from the film’s color scheme to choice of dialogue. All of their hard work spent together paid off as Simon recently began his freshman year at Vassar College’s film school.
