Goal
I am Brenda Shipp, proud Board Chair for the California Black Health Network (CBHN). My extensive experience working with minority and underserved communities has exposed me to the realities of the disparities in healthcare. While health inequity is partially due to racism and lack of caring, I have learned that there are many other factors at play. For example, when money is distributed, it is not given with the goal of advancing the knowledge and education of how to relate to and care for people of color. It is also not given to help with the advocacy measures needed to make fundamental changes.
The work that CBHN and our board has done over the past couple of years has given me renewed faith that we can influence and impact change if we are diligent and continue to press forward. However, if we are going to continue to address the obstacles that prevent change, we must invest real dollars to make a difference. As Giving Tuesday approaches and CBHN approaches its monumental 40th year anniversary, I ask that you consider working with us to make a difference.
How can you help? Simply contribute to CBHN on Giving Tuesday and let our collective dollars and voices create equity in healthcare, improved advocacy, and increased access to care quality care.
