Care Centre (Elementary School Age) Sponsorship
This donation form works for new sponsorships and renewing sponsorships.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for new sponsors:
WHY SPONSORSHIP?
The Care Centre is a nurturing, stable, and supportive place to learn for children facing extraordinary challenges at home. Among these children are orphans, "half-orphans" with a surviving parent, and other vulnerable and critically-poor children. At the Care Centre, children receive not just material necessities, but also the care and emotional guidance that they need to thrive in school and develop fully.
During school breaks - whenever the situation at home allows - Care Centre children return to their village homes to stay with family.
WHAT COMMITMENT DO SPONSORS USUALLY MAKE?
Generally, our Care Centre sponsors support their students until at least 8th grade graduation (three to six years). After this, many sponsors choose to continue their support through high school - and some even continue on through college or university.
IS THIS A "FULL SPONSORSHIP"? WHAT DOES MY SPONSORSHIP PAY FOR?
The Care Centre is the heart of our program and it costs us a lot to operate, about $1,500 per child per year. Your sponsorship will be paired with one other, so that there are two sponsors per Care Centre child. This still only covers a portion of what it costs us to fully run the Care Centre (we do other fundraising to make up the difference - please consider giving to our Care Centre Operations Fund).
We do not consider this a "half sponsorship," for two reasons. Firstly, we don't want to suggest that two sponsorships of a Care Centre child will cover the entire cost of care (those willing to cover the full cost, please get in touch with us!). Secondly, circumstances at Care Centre children's homes sometimes change so that a child is able to move back in with family. We keep all our elementary school sponsorships at the same level so that, in these cases, your sponsorship can become a Home-based sponsorship and your support will continue to benefit the child assigned to you.
WILL I GET TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE STUDENT I SUPPORT?
Sponsors will receive photos and letters from their child, as well as occasional updates about their progress in school. The relationship is two-way, and we ask our sponsors to write letters of encouragement to the students they support.
