Costa Mesa Fire Captain Michael Kreza Memorial Highway and Scholarship Fund
November of 2018, Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue Captain Mike Kreza was riding his bike off duty and was tragically hit and killed by a DUI driver.
The donations collected will be utilized for the costs associated with the naming, signage, and sign placement on the 55 Costa Mesa/Newport Beach Freeway and will now be known as “The Costa Mesa Fire Captain Michael Kreza Memorial Highway,” (SCR 21).
This is in honor of Captain Kreza and his family, including his wife Shanna and their three daughters Kaylie, Layla and Audrey. All remaining and/or continuing donations and funding will be used to establish and maintain a scholarship fund in Captain Kreza’s name and honor, thereafter.
Fire Captain “Ironman” Mike Kreza’s memory will be forever imprinted within the gateway of the community that he loved and served for 18 years.
