This initiative recognizes the graduates of the Caisson Platoon’s Basic Military Horsemanship Course (BHC). The BHC is an intense 10-week training program at Ft. Belvoir, VA where incoming members of the platoon train before transitioning to the stables on Ft. Myer and duties in Arlington National Cemetery. The course includes equitation training as well as education about caring for the horses of the platoon and the history of the unit. Graduates receive a solid brass buckle with unique unit accoutrements at their graduation ceremony. It has become a coveted personal item that can be worn as a part of their daily uniform in the stables. The program is funded exclusively by the generosity of donors.
