Caffi Fields Repair

VGSL is proud to call Caffi Fields home.  Every year, VGSL and the Town of Vienna collectively spend thousands of dollars to perform annual maintenance on the three fields at Caffi.  However, after years of just performance routine annual maintenance, the fields are in sore need of enhanced repair.  Grass lines have eroded and lips have formed between the infield and outfield, creating not just a safety hazard for the players, but also causing the infield to retain water, making the fields less likely to be playable after a rain.   Our girls deserve better.

Long term, the Town and VGSL are working together to get Caffi on the Town's CIP in order to be able to do a complete field overhaul, including plans to address runoff and drainage.  Short term, starting April 1, the fields will be closed for two weeks for a $35,000 repair project.  The cost of the project is being shared by VGSL and the Town.  VGSL is a nonprofit who does not believe in keeping a large reserve on-hand.  When we find ourselves with extra funds, we immediately invest it back into the community, through donating towards the high school teams, giving registration scholarships to players, and buying updated bats, catcher’s gear, and other equipment.  

We also don’t believe in asking our players to fundraise on our behalf.  Players should be focused on the enjoyment of the sport, and our families have enough obligations in their lives.  So instead of doing another Dining For Dollars or candy sale or silent auction, VGSL has decided to simply ask our community for their support.  All donations are tax deductible, and any funds raised beyond the goal will be put right back into the community in other ways.  We are a 100% volunteer organization, and so honored to be a part of Vienna!
