Cable Drilling Rig for Wells - 2026 Major Project

This project funds the acquisition and deployment of a custom cable drilling rig that will expand JustCause’s ability to provide clean water and vocational training across rural Uganda.

Until now, JustCause has focused on repairing and restoring existing wells. This project represents an important next step. The cable drilling rig will allow us to drill new wells for the first time, opening the door to serve communities that currently have no access to clean water.

Cable drilling is an older, proven technique that remains highly effective today. When paired with the right equipment and trained operators, it can be both durable and efficient — and has the potential to reduce the cost of drilling a well by up to 25%, allowing donor support to reach more communities.

Our goal is to identify and fund the rig, ship it to Uganda in a dedicated shipping container, and have it operational by January 1, 2027.

The cable drilling rig will:

• Enable new well drilling in underserved and hard-to-reach areas

• Complement our existing well repair work

• Train Ugandan technicians through hands-on apprenticeship

• Reduce reliance on outside contractors and imported solutions

As with all JustCause initiatives, this work is paired with Gospel-centered discipleship, walking alongside local men as they grow in skill, responsibility, and faith.
