I have a dear friend that was diagnosed and went through cancer treatment during her pregnancy that I have been so inspired by. She didn’t get a choice and not only did she lose her hair during treatment, but she had to endure so many more challenges. She is such a strong and amazing women! She is the reason that I decided to raise money and allow someone to buzz my head to show my support for the journey that she faced and that all patients facing a cancer diagnosis are enduring. Thankfully, she has been NED (No Evidence of Disease) for over 1 year 9 months!! I cannot believe or even imagine everything that she has gone through and still goes through with the anxiety of ongoing scans and tests to make sure the cancer has not returned.
Why is it important for our community to support patients going through treatment?
I know how grateful she is for the foundation being able to help her family during that incredibly difficult time as her husband took time off of work to care for her and their children. I will not let something like my “hair” keep me from supporting and bringing awareness to such a wonder cause as this one.
