Why did you say “yes” when asked to be a buzzee?
Cancer is not a foreign concept in my life. Not only is there a history of cancer that runs in my family, but I have seen it affect people close to me personally and throughout my small town. In a place where everyone knows everyone, their battles with cancer touch the lives of many and we strive to support them as a community.
Who are you doing this for/in Honor of?
This past year I had an employee that received a cancer diagnosis. I saw her persevere and keep a smile on her face even on the bad days. She has been an inspiration to so many people and I’m thankful that supports were in place through our oncology department and organization that helped her to be able to focus on healing.
Why is it important for our community to support patients going through treatment?
I have seen the struggles that a cancer diagnosis can bring to individuals and their families, whether it be emotionally, financially or physically. It was an easy decision to become a buzzee and most certainly an event that I am honored to be a part of. I hope that my actions through fundraising and buzzing my head can help provide patients with support and help them through such a difficult situation in their lives.
