The Butterfly fund was established in response to the high Black infant and maternal mortality

rates in New Jersey and is designed to offer monetary support to families after the loss of an

mother or infant as a result of a pregnancy related complication. Each family receives an

unrestricted gift of $2,000. Since its inception in December 2020, the fund has supported 4

families.
