This giving season, help us raise $20K by January 17th, 2025, to continue our mission of building inclusive, equitable, and accessible coding tools for artists, designers, students, and educators! Processing Foundation is the non-profit organization behind Processing, p5.js, and the p5.js Editor. Every year, we support over a million creative coders of all ages around the world through software development and public programs.
In an increasingly algorithmic and platform-driven society, Processing Foundation continues to unwaveringly commit to keeping our software free, open-source, and ad-free. We collaborate with our community to imagine a generous and non-exploitative relationship with technology, and we need your support!
Every donation supports our open-source projects and dedicated contributors who maintain the software. To the extent law permits, donations are 100% tax-deductible in the United States.
Why Donate?
Processing Foundation is more than our software—it’s a global community working toward a more equitable tech landscape. Our open-source tools make learning, creating, and sharing code fun and accessible. Our team at the Processing Foundation has been working hard this year to modernize our coding tools alongside our incredible community of contributors.
100% of your donation will support software development and maintenance
Processing 4.3.1, p5.js 2.0, and p5.js Editor 2.15 releases are upcoming! 100% of your donation will go into funding contributors' essential work, ensuring our tools remain relevant, reliable, and accessible.
Processing 4.3.1
Processing 4.3.1 will be released in mid-December! This release focuses on essential updates to Processing’s underlying infrastructure that will make it easier to maintain, develop, and contribute to Processing. Most of the work focused on modernizing the tooling, workflows, documentation, and overall developer experience for Processing contributors, laying the groundwork for future developments.
p5.js 2.0
Scheduled for Spring 2025, the upcoming release of p5.js 2.0 will introduce significant updates and improvements, focusing on accessibility. This major release results from community proposals for feature changes, particularly those that support underrepresented contributors while aiming to maintain compatibility with existing code where possible.
p5.js Editor 2.16.0
Releasing in Spring 2025, we’ve modernized the Editor to make it easier for code learners and contributors to work on their projects. The CodeMirror upgrade allows for the integration of extensions and improves screen reading and keyboard accessibility. We will also be upgrading our dependencies and tooling to ensure that best practices for current contributors and developers are up to date.
