Help Us Build a Wash/Pack!
Help us build a wash/pack for the HCF+S community farm!
What's a wash/pack, you're probably asking? Simply put, a wash/pack is a dedicated space where farm harvests are taken for storage and prep for distribution. Our wash/pack build will include a walk-in cooler, a washing station for cleaning off produce, a flower bouquet prep area, specific longer-term storage for root veggies and squash as well as a fruit storage area for our 50-tree orchard.
For three years now, we have been distributing thousands of pounds of produce via our Free Farm Stand as well as satellite locations, and we have not had the space we need... at all. Currently, we're using one donated refrigerator, which we also need for animal produce in summer as well as food and drinks for staff. We have almost no counter/prep space. We are COMPLETELY out of room, and it's now making our work here at the community farm very difficult.
Thankfully, we received an incredible grant a few months ago that has helped us build out the majority of this new space, complete with a 600ft concrete pad. But we need help to finish it! We are hoping to raise $5,000 towards the remainder of this project, which we need to finish ASAP because we are coming into our busiest harvest season.
Please help us complete the build out for this crucial space and keep the HCF+S community farm and Free Farm Stand running for our rural, low-income community. Our work here is needed more than ever, and we have already come so far. Let's see what we can accomplish together!
