Build A Miracle is a nonprofit organization helping our neighbors in Tijuana Mexico break the cycle of poverty by building homes for impoverished families and providing education and empowerment through the opportunities available at our community centers.  Children and adults are educated and can learn trades, start businesses, complete high school or even attend college through the scholarship program. 

     In April 2023, our 2 families spent a day in Tijuana, helping mix and pour concrete for the foundation of a new home. The family receiving the home  worked alongside us and others. They would soon have a real house with stable walls, plumbing and electricity, and they would also have a newfound hope for their future. Later in the day, we went to the impressive BAM community center with a nice sport court, playground and many classrooms- to educate all, from preschoolers to adults. This has provided a safe place for the children and families to go. All of the sponsored families commit to volunteering 500 hours before and 500 hour after receiving their home, maintaining the community center, tutoring, and helping to build more homes for families. This has provided a growing supportive community and the idea of paying it forward. Aside from the physical homes that provide protection to the families, we were impressed by the support for education. Graduating high school, and even college or beyond, helps to provide these families with hope and opportunities for a better life and future. 

     Our older siblings (Redondo Union High School Spanish Dual Immersion class of 2026) have started a fundraiser to raise enough to build a new home. We are hoping to raise $3500 (by June 30,2023) to furnish that home- furniture, appliances, beds, etc. Any extra funds will go to supporting the education for the children and adults in the family.
