Goal

From Milwaukee to Miami, and Back Again: Running for Community and Connection

Originally born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, I made the move to Miami, FL, but Milwaukee will always be home. Last year, I faced a tough setback—a running injury that sidelined me for three months. During that time, I found myself back in my hometown, where I was finally cleared to run again. It was then that I reconnected with Milwaukee in the best way possible: through running.

I reached out to an old high school friend who introduced me to Buena Tierra MKE, a running community unlike any I’ve experienced. Attending one of their Wednesday runs, I felt a sense of belonging and support that was incredible. Recovering from an injury is challenging, but having a community that welcomes you with open arms—even when you no longer live in the city—is something special.

When Buena Tierra MKE reached out to invite me to join their team for an extraordinary challenge, I couldn’t say no. Over the past year, this team has been about more than running—it’s been about building and growing together, proving what’s possible when a community comes together.

Now, we’re ready to take our journey to the global stage. Our team will run 340 miles from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, carrying with us the spirit of Milwaukee—a city that’s often overlooked but never underestimated. This journey is about more than just miles; it’s about resilience, unity, and proving that we can all overcome challenges and achieve greatness.

We hope our story inspires others to take that first step, to push beyond their limits, and to discover that we can do hard things, together. Your support means everything to us as we represent our community on this incredible journey. Let’s run together!
