Buena Tierra MKE x The Speed Project

Ten months ago, I set out to make a major change in my life before my son arrived. I started by lacing up my running shoes, strapping on an Apple Watch, and running around my neighborhood. Those first 2 miles were tough—my chest pounded, and it felt like the hardest thing I’d ever done.

Fast forward a month, and I joined Buena Tierra, a run club that became the catalyst for transforming my physical and mental fitness. Through this group, I ran my first half marathon, participated in a relay race on the rooftop of a parking structure in Chicago with ON Running, and pushed my distance from 2 miles to 400 miles by the end of 2024. I even completed a 90-mile relay from Chicago to Milwaukee in 13 hours!

This incredible year of growth has led to the next challenge: a 340-mile race through the Mojave Desert and Death Valley, running from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in just 48 hours. But we can't do it alone—we need your help.
