Top Dogg K9 Foundation Mourns the Loss of Service Dog Bruno, Pledges Continued Support for Veteran

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that Top Dogg K9 Foundation announces the tragic loss of service dog Bruno. Bruno was a dedicated and loving companion, and an invaluable support to his Army veteran handler, Kerrie Porter. His loss has left a deep void in Kerrie’s life and in our organization.

In the two weeks since he was paired with Kerrie, Bruno’s specialized training provided crucial assistance, significantly improving her quality of life, even waking her in her sleep when her blood pressure went too high.  He was more than just a service dog; he was a lifeline, a source of comfort, and a trusted partner. The bond between Bruno and this Army veteran was immediate and truly remarkable, and we understand the immense grief she is experiencing.

Top Dogg K9 Foundation is committed to providing unwavering support to our veterans. We are already working diligently to identify and train a suitable replacement service dog for this deserving veteran. We understand the urgency of this need and are dedicated to expediting the process and working to raise the necessary funds to ensure this veteran receives the support she requires as quickly as possible. Donations for Kerrie’s service dog is so very much appreciated!

The safety and well-being of our service dogs and the veterans they serve are paramount. We are deeply saddened by the circumstances surrounding Bruno's passing and are taking immediate steps to review and enhance our protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Top Dogg K9 Foundation is committed to honoring Bruno's memory by continuing our mission to provide highly trained service dogs to veterans in need. We ask for the community's support and understanding during this difficult time. 💔🐾
