Bruin Fan Alliance

I joined Bruin Fan Alliance to help kids that are in a similar situation that I grew up in. I grew up in a single parent household. My mother sometimes worked two jobs to make ends meet for me and my sister. Therefore, I knew that if I wanted to go to college, I would have to get athletic/academic scholarships or pay for it myself. No kid should have to worry about if they’ll have access to a successful future- whether that success involves college, the workforce, entrepreneurship, etc. I want to help because I know what it’s like to have the responsibility of getting up to go to work, school, and practice at 15 years old. I don’t want any kid to have to experience that. In high school, I worked three jobs at once while playing two sports. Although I want to be about to help in the long run, I also want to help right now. I want to be that genuine listening ear or shoulder to cry on that I didn’t have. Growing up, I never had much emotional support, and quite frankly, success is much more than just about financial support. I strong foundation and support system goes a long way, and sometimes that’s all that we need.
