Broken Leg Productions (BLP) is a community theater organization based in Melrose and Wakefield, Massachusetts, and grounded in educational theater programming. When COVID-19 hit, as so many other arts organizations shuttered, we were grateful to be able to find new ways to safely continue and provide our students with a much-needed theatrical outlet during an uncertain time. But the financial realities of continuing to operate through the pandemic ultimately became too much to bear. By the fall of 2021, it became necessary to close Broken Leg Productions.
But thanks to the dedication and commitment of our students, parents, and community members, Broken Leg is now starting over. Although the doors were closed, this community wasn’t willing to let BLP go. An organizational restructuring and leadership change resulted in the development of a new board of directors, a new nonprofit status, and new advisory teams working to help resurrect this organization.
NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our summer programs have always been the cornerstone of BLP, and we are working hard to bring these programs back for the summer of 2022. But in so many ways, we are rebuilding from the ground up, and this includes financially. We need to raise at least $5,000 in order to make this programming a reality. This funding will be used to offset venue rental and licensing fees, as well as cover general expenses incurred in starting a new nonprofit. Please consider helping us reach our goal; the students of BLP need you, and we thank you for your support. Remember, there is no donation too big or too small. To show our appreciation for your generosity, we would love to give you something back!
BLP is a registered 501(C)(3) organization and your donation is tax-deductible. We also encourage you to reach out to your employer and see if they will match your donation!
