Launch Campaign

Bioinformatics involves using statistics, computer science, and biological big data to produce biomedical breakthroughs like the COVID mRNA vaccine. Unfortunately, for most people around the world, formal bioinformatics training, mentorship, and research opportunities are scarce, expensive, and (often) poor quality. As a result, we have lost (and continue to lose) many talented future bioinformaticians and the potential breakthroughs they could have helped create.

BRN is addressing this talent gap by giving people around the world access to high-quality training, mentorship, and research opportunities in bioinformatics at no cost. We have already mentored 43 trainees since starting in 2021, 14 of whom have now launched their careers in academia or industry (by obtaining relevant jobs, internships, PhD programs, etc).

The goal of the Launch Campaign is to fund the official launch of BRN in 2023. With $10k USD, we can grow our mentorship network, create new training resources, build our web and social presence, and solidify our tech infrastructure with the goal of delivering high-quality, no-cost bioinformatics training to more than 200 trainees by the end of 2024.
