Update as of February 7, 2022:

Unfortunately, Braxton's fight is over. Braxton passed away Monday morning around 0730, surrounded by family. He fought hard...and knew that he had so many people supporting him. The Hofman family appreciates the support they received from everyone during Braxton's fight. He was loved by many and will forever be in our hearts.

Update as of February 6, 2022:

Braxton has been additionally diagnosed with TEN, Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis. It is a life-threatening skin condition that causes peeling and blistering skin over much of the body, usually caused by a reaction to a medication. To receive more specialized care, he has been transferred to a larger hospital via medivac. He is still receiving constant dialysis to remove the toxins from his body. The Hofman family is asking for specific prayers, such as skin infections to stay minimal and to have his kidney/liver functions improve.

For those unaware, Braxton was officially diagnosed with MIS-A after being admitted to the hospital in Sioux Falls earlier this week. Since then, his symptoms have worsened. He is experiencing a lot of pain, swelling, fluid retention, extreme skin sloughing and is currently on 24-hour kidney dialysis to help restart his kidney function. While the team in Sioux Falls is doing everything they can to help support Braxton, they recommend transferring to a larger hospital. A larger facility will better navigate his internal medical needs. As well as deal with the wounds created from the skin sloughing.

Braxton is currently suffering from multiple side effects, both known and unknown from contracting COVID. It is a multi-system inflammatory response from getting the virus, and since it is not well known, they are fighting a difficult battle. There have been extensive efforts to support him and keep him in this fight! Unfortunately, this is just the beginning, and he will need medical support for quite some time. His timeline for healing is unknown right now. So, Braxton’s friends and family are coming together to create this fund. Right now, the two things we can do are pray and pray without ceasing and ease the financial burden ahead of all of them.

There have been other serious issues that have come up and get addressed as they come. Out of respect for the family, we ask that you continue to pray and pray hard for Braxton, his family, and his extended family. As well as donate if you can do so! All funds will go to Braxton and his parents to cover medical costs and living expenses to remain by his side!
