Goal

Over the past five years, the Bowery Jazz Messengers has established itself as the nation’s only youth Jazz band devoted to serving those suffering from homelessness, hunger, or poverty. Founded by LaGuardia High School class of '21 alumnus Bato Aydelotte, the band plays throughout the New York City area, including monthly shows at The Bowery Mission on the Lower East Side and at churches and not-for-profits throughout New York City.

These performances are more than just music—they're moments of hope and connection for a community in need. The young people performing in our program are not only sharing their musical talents, but they’re learning valuable life lessons about empathy, community service, and the power of art to uplift spirits.

In addition to the many talented young musicians who pass through our program, the Bowery Jazz Messengers are enriched by the involvement of professional musician mentors from New York City's international jazz community, led by our Music Director Chris Theberge, a Grammy-nominated musician and co-founder of Groove Collective, who brings invaluable guidance and inspiration to our young performers.

With your support, we can sustain and grow the Bowery Jazz Messengers program and continue providing opportunities for young musicians to serve the community of our neighbors in need.

Your contributions enable us to:

1. Rent rehearsal facilities.
2. Provide honorariums to our guest mentors and returning alumni performers.
3. Enhance our outreach efforts to serve more communities in need.
Thank you for your support!
