Join the boom saloon community and support independent publishing that uses paper and ink to drive positive social change
boom saloon is an independent publisher dedicated to democratising creativity for good.
We publish books and magazines at the intersection of the arts and social change – creating opportunities for people facing complex personal challenges to share their perspectives on the world. We believe printed matter can do more than communicate an idea. It can challenge what we think we know, hold space for voices that are too often overlooked, connect people across experiences and inspire us to see the world differently.
Membership brings you closer to the people, publications, conversations and opportunities at the heart of boom saloon, while helping us create publishing projects that put those principles into practice. It is a way to participate in a community that values thoughtful publishing, creative practice and the exchange of ideas, while helping us create work that makes space for voices that deserve to be heard.

What membership includes
Membership is designed to bring you closer to the people, ideas and work at the heart of boom saloon.
– a connected community
Meet people working across, or appreciating, publishing, art, design, architecture, photography, writing, culture and beyond. Our community is international and deliberately interdisciplinary: people connected not by a single profession, but by a shared interest in creativity as a way of understanding, questioning and changing the world around us.
– printed matter
Enjoy discounts on all boom saloon publications and receive exclusive access to our growing library of independent books and magazines. The library brings together work made by boom saloon, our members, contributors and wider community – publications specially selected for their originality, perspective and ability to open up new ways of thinking.
– events and encounters
Members receive free or discounted tickets to all boom saloon events, including talks, workshops, meetups, exhibitions and other gatherings. These provide opportunities to encounter new perspectives, meet members of the wider community and engage more closely with the work we publish.
– opportunities to participate
Members are the first to hear about opportunities to contribute to publications, collaborate on projects, attend events, share their stories and become involved in the wider boom saloon programme in a meaningful and mutually beneficial manner.
– member benefits
Members enjoy an unlimited 10% off everything in the boom saloon shop, alongside selected offers and discounts from organisations and individuals from our wider community.
– a closer relationship with boom saloon
Membership means being closer to the development of our publishing programme and community projects, alongside our team. You'll hear about new publications, collaborations and opportunities as they emerge, and have opportunities to contribute your perspective to what comes next. Unlike a transactional subscription, membership encourages deeper relations as we invite members to engage and shape the positive impacts we work to make on our world.
Membership with purpose
We believe creativity should not be limited to those who already have access to it. Alongside our independent publications and client work, we develop community-led publishing projects with people whose experiences and perspectives are too often overlooked or undervalued. These projects explore subjects including forced displacement, inequality, dementia, mental health, climate, place and identity – creating the conditions for people to tell their own stories, develop ideas and make something lasting, on their terms.
Membership helps us create these conditions.
Your support contributes to the time, resources and creative capacity required to develop community relationships, produce publications and create opportunities that would otherwise be difficult to fund.
Become part of the community, support us to drive more positive change.
