A tribute to Angelo Friolo

On July 12-14, we hosted another unforgettable Reunion where the alumni from the generations of UWC Adriatic 1991-93, 1992-94 and 1993-95 celebrated three decades of friendship and growth.

In this occasion, we also gathered to honour Angelo Friolo, the beloved photography teacher whose influence is still felt by many alumni. Contributions from Elizabeth Sutcliffe and the Friolo family made the event truly special. At the end of the ceremony, a plaque in memory of Angelo Friolo was unveiled at the Art Centre. Additionally, a book of photographs curated by Angelo Friolo’s former students was announced, capturing the essence of his teaching and the creativity he inspired.

About the book

"The Golden Section of the Heart" is a heartfelt tribute featuring a collection personal and archival photos, honouring a beloved teacher through the eyes of his former students. Format: 90 pages, 30x30 cm, hardcover

"Photography was the pretext through which he taught us to observe and engage with the world. To perceive that between black and white lies an infinite variety of greys. To understand that by shifting our perspective, things take on a new light. To use light to illuminate the dark areas of our lives and the lives of others. To see beauty in the most unexpected places. To solve problems with cunning and creativity, thinking originally and independently"
