Goal

After launching a successful 2019 campaign to build latrines in Ada, Ghana, we are proud to say that we were able to construct two on the Azizapke school campus.  During our trip we were summoned by community members to help support the women on the island by daily transporting their coconut products to the market.  On the Azizapke Island coconut oil is their main source of income.  Many single mothers as well as two parent families depend on the income generated from selling coconut oil in the market.  Unfortunately, the market is approximately an hour away by boat.  In order for the women to get there they must pay a boat taxi to transport them.  If they don't make adequate profit in the market they assume debt with interest to the boat taxi.  As you can already imagine, this doesn't normally end well.

GPI will be returning in April 2023 to build a community boat for the women on the island.  Although the women will be obligated to pay a small fee for fuel and maintenance, it will relieve them from assuming unaffordable debt.  The driver of the boat will be compensated by his free use of the boat for fishing during the time the women are in the market.  We are hoping to raise $7500 for our campaign this year.  Your donation will be well appreciated and put to good use.
