BMNSM K-12 and Education Programs
Although the Museum is closed until further notice to repair and restore the facility following Hurricane Ian, educational programs continue to serve thousands of K-12 and youth audiences throughout Southwest Florida and beyond.
These include the Mollusks on the Move outreach program, in which BMNSM Marine Biologists travel to schools and community centers with live mollusks, shells, and activity kits to educate children about these amazing animals, their ecosystems, wildlife conservation, and the environment. Also continuing is the Mollusks Online program, a Zoom class on the same subject which reaches students and classes wherever they may be.
Gifts to the Adopt-A-Class program assure free access to these programs for all students and schools, eliminating economic barriers to unique conservation education. Donors receive notes from children who participate – the BEST kind of thank-you.
