Goal
A small-town New England hockey drama that takes you through a young teenager's high school life and the impact of his best friend's life...
BLACK ICE is a period piece inspired by events that occurred during our time in high school from 2004-2009. During that time we lost fellow classmates, friends and family to the tragedy of suicide. Although BLACK ICE is a fictional story, it speaks to the emotion and trauma that occurs when a loved one has died by suicide, as well as the impact it has on the community as a whole.
As professional athletes, and other prominent figures in our society continue to speak up about mental health, we believe this to be the perfect time to make this project reality! With the completion of the film BLACK ICE and it's subsequent release, Chris and Jake will continue their grassroots movement for mental health awareness and create the NEHOIDEN BLACK BEARS non-profit. 15% of sales of the film will seed the non-profit, and create a community to spread awareness of mental illness in Massachusetts and throughout New England. BLACK ICE will become a MAJOR tool to help normalize the hard conversations with teammates, co-workers, friends and loved ones, helping to erase the stigma of suicide as a taboo topic.
We are so incredibly excited and grateful to HOPE GIVERS for making us a part of their community and fiscally sponsoring the film BLACK ICE. Please consider donating today and joining the Nehoiden Black Bears/ Hope Givers team. Follow us on our journey of bringing this vision to life! #

This film could not be more important than it is at this very moment in our nation's history: According to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 4 in 10 teens report that they feel “persistently sad or hopeless,” and 1 in 5 say they have contemplated suicide More specifically, the suicide rate of kids between the ages of 10-to-14- year-old is 2.8 per 100,000 people, and that of teens and young adults at the age of 15 to 24, is 14.2 per 100,000. These figures translate to 6663 young lives that were cut short by suicide. I have friends who've lost children and young relatives to suicide. Thank you, thank you for your passion and desire to make an impact with your film!!
