Goal
The Black Women's Maternal Health Collective is a budding community group that sets out to support, educate and advocate for Black birthing people. As a new organization, we need substantial funding to make the Collective into what we envision it to be. We see anti-black racism on display daily. With abysmal maternal outcomes for Black birthing people rise, the time for support and action is now.
Our Vision
Eliminate racial disparities in maternal outcomes while centering the community and striving for equity.
Our Mission
Within a reproductive justice praxis, the Black Women’s Maternal Health Collective aims to:
-Provide a safe place for Black birthing people to discuss and process their experiences
-Educate our community and the public about the negative impact anti-black individual, structural and systemic racism racism on health and life, dismantling the notion that there is something inherently wrong with black people that contributes to poor health outcomes
-Unite efforts to efforts to address maternal and reproductive health improvements for our population that are siloed across healthcare, public health and social sciences disciplines.
-Engage in political advocacy to advance our cause
-Fight for birth equity and the decolonization of modern birthing practices
