MAY 29 UPDATE: BJORN'S JOURNEY ISN'T OVER

Thanks to your incredible support, Bjorn made it to UGA for advanced veterinary care.

Today, Bjorn underwent anesthesia for a full evaluation. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for answers. We do not yet know what the findings are, what treatment options will be recommended, or what his long-term future may look like.

What we do know is that Bjorn is still fighting.

While we wait for recommendations, we are facing a difficult reality. We still have a $2,400 outstanding veterinary balance, and the possibility of additional diagnostics, procedures, or treatment costs ahead.

To help us move forward, a generous supporter has offered a $2,400 matching challenge.

Every dollar donated will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $2,400.

This means your gift today will not only help eliminate Bjorn's outstanding veterinary balance but also help prepare us for whatever comes next in his medical journey.

The support that got Bjorn to UGA was nothing short of incredible. We're asking for your help one more time as we wait for answers and continue fighting for this special boy.

Thank you for believing in Bjorn, standing beside him, and giving him every chance possible.

Our Updated Goal: $9,300

Many supporters have asked why the campaign goal has increased after we successfully got Bjorn to UGA. The answer is simple: Bjorn's medical journey is still unfolding.

The updated goal reflects:

$4,500 – Emergency care, diagnostics, transport, hospitalization, and evaluation at UGA

$2,400 – Outstanding veterinary expenses that made this life-saving care possible

$2,400 – A medical reserve fund for additional diagnostics, treatment recommendations, and follow-up care as we await answers about Bjorn's future

Total Goal: $9,300

We never want finances to determine whether an animal receives care. Updating the goal allows us to not only pay the bills that got Bjorn this far, but also prepare for whatever comes next.

MAY 28 UPDATE:

Help Bjorn Poop Again

Emergency Surgery Fundraiser for Bjorn the Pig

If you're here, you're probably wondering how a pig needing help pooping turned into a full-blown medical emergency.

Honestly? We're wondering the same thing.

Bjorn was born with severe anatomical issues involving his rectum and colon. In very simple terms, his body does not function the way it should, and over time scar tissue and narrowing continue to make it harder and harder for him to pass stool normally.

Despite everything, Bjorn has remained one of the happiest, funniest pigs we have ever known.

When he feels good, he is chaos in pig form:

• Demanding snacks like a tiny screaming landlord
• Zooming around the sanctuary
• Harassing volunteers for attention
• Making everyone laugh constantly

But when his colon becomes blocked, his quality of life declines quickly and dangerously.

What Happened

Bjorn recently stopped being able to pass stool again and was rushed to our home vet.

Under anesthesia, the vet was able to get a cannula into Bjorn's rectum, confirming there is still an opening internally. They spent a long time flushing and trying to clear the impaction, but the blockage is now too severe to safely manage there.

The reality is that Bjorn's colon is severely impacted and he required emergency referral to UGA for advanced care and surgical evaluation.

UGA agreed to take Bjorn for:

• A full re-evaluation
• Updated imaging
• Emergency surgical assessment
• Hospitalization and recovery care

Because of the complexity of Bjorn's condition, we were hopeful that the same surgeon who performed his original surgery would be able to evaluate him again.

Why We're Fighting So Hard

When Bjorn's original surgical site began shrinking and closing again shortly after surgery, we made the heartbreaking decision that we would simply let him enjoy life until he physically could not poop anymore and then consent to humane euthanasia.

But once we learned there was still an opening—and that intervention might buy him more quality time—we couldn't help but feel he deserved that chance.Because here's the thing:

Bjorn is still happy.

He still wants belly rubs.

He still enjoys life.

His body is failing him in one specific way, but his spirit absolutely is not.

And honestly... if you only had one major medical issue standing between you and more time with the people who love you, wouldn't you want someone to try?

Even if treatment only gives Bjorn a few more months, those months matter.

Long-Term Management

If Bjorn continues his journey successfully, his daily management will likely become much more intensive.

We may need to:

• Eliminate fruit completely
• Transition to strictly liquid or pureed foods
• Increase laxatives significantly
• Closely monitor bowel movements daily
• Maintain a much stricter medical protocol moving forward

We know this is not a permanent fix.

But we also know Bjorn deserves every reasonable chance we can give him.

Financial Reality

We need to be transparent and honest.

Rescue is emotional, but veterinary hospitals require real payments, real deposits, and accounts kept in good standing. We cannot continue accumulating debt while also caring for all of the other animals at the sanctuary who rely on us daily for food, medications, shelter, and emergency care.

We have never euthanized an animal because of lack of funds, and we are trying desperately not to let that happen now when there are still options worth exploring.

How You Can Help

• Donate if you can
• Send Bjorn good thoughts, prayers, and poop-positive energy

Every dollar matters.

Every share matters.

Every extra day matters for Bjorn.

And trust us—once this pig is feeling better, he fully intends to return to his regularly scheduled programming of screaming for snacks and acting like he owns the sanctuary.

Thank you for helping us fight for him.
