Birds for 3rd: Thermal drones to save lives on the frontline
Preston Stewart's fundraiser for 3rd Separate Assault Brigade
Overview
Right now, the Third Separate Assault Brigade is holding one of the most critical sections of the frontline between the Kupyansk and Lyman fronts. They have successfully repelled repeated enemy assaults, reclaimed several villages, and continue to take the fight to entrenched enemy positions.
But this defense comes at a constant and escalating cost. Ukraine has entered the darkest and harshest period of the year. Long nights, freezing temperatures, fog, and snow severely limit visibility - giving the enemy cover to move, regroup, and attack.
Without thermal reconnaissance, infantry units are forced to operate nearly blind. To continue holding the line and to prevent ambushes, surprise assaults, and unnecessary loss of life, the “Chaos” infantry company of the brigade's 2nd Mechanized Battalion urgently needs 10–15 thermal Mavic drones. These drones allow soldiers to detect enemy movement at night and in poor weather, coordinate defensive fire, and safely plan assaults and evacuations.
Thermal drones are lifesaving tools. Every day without them increases the risk to soldiers who are already stretched thin. With the help of your donation, we aim to quickly place critical equipment directly to the hands of drone pilots at the 3rd Assault Brigade.
At Ukraine Aid Operations, we are dedicated to finding the best possibly pricing for the equipment, and with your donations we hope to deliver a combination of 10-15 of the following drones to the Chaos company before Christmas 2025:
- DJI Mavic 3 Thermal Advanced ($4442 each)
- DJI Matrice 4E ($3623 each)

My wife (we’ve now been married for 38+ years) served in the Louisiana National Guard from 1987-1991. In 1989, her unit, the LANG 159th MASH was activated in November 1989 for deployment to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Storm; the only NG medical unit activated for the conflict. My wonderful wife served proudly to preserve “American Values”! At that time that was sovereignty, loyalty and commitment to allies and friends; unfortunately NOT values the USA can be depended to defend today. Back then, she mobilized to help a NON-DEMOCRATIC, despotic, ROYAL regime, NOT an independent DEMOCRATICALLY elected fledging ally. I will ALWAYS be proud of her service and sacrifices with the 159th MASH during Desert Storm. BTW, I also served for 23 1/2 years in the military, rising from E1 to O3E and was scared and anxious for her for the 7 months she was deployed. I would like to think she’d have more happily served to defend a Democratic Ukraine then a Despotic Royal Kuwait. Slava Ukraini Heroiam Slava

Thank you for everything you’re doing. Your stories show that there is a huge ROI for supporting Ukraine. This is not simply charity and Americans need to stop viewing the war that way. I also highly recommend the United24 app where we can donate directly to specific projects like demining and reconstruction, or specific units like the Magyar Birds. Thank you and God bless!
