Can I Speak to Your Tanager?

This team is captained by Matt Felperin, NOVA Parks' roving naturalist and birding encyclopedia on two legs. Julia Tanner, an avid birder, brings the perfect blend of sharp eyes and shutter speed, capturing every feathered moment. Rounding out the trio is Greg Block, the enthusiastic rookie with a camera, always ready to spot (or at least zoom in on) the next lifer. Together, they chase birds, share laughs, and snap stunning shots—one flutter at a time.

Their day included spotting a Grasshopper Sparrow, a species of concern, perfectly timed driving to just miss the downpours and an interesting conversation with airport security! What a day!

Birdathon helps NVBA to support outdoor education, citizen science, habitat conservation and programs to encourage people to plant native plants and protect native wildlife. Birdathon also helps ornithologists better understand spring migration by reporting sightings through eBird, an online database of bird observations run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
