Hello! 👋

We are the Bird Brains, otherwise known as Maggie, Carlyn, Casey and Ian!

On April 27, we will be doing a Birdathon to spot as many bird species as possible in a single day. It's the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Northern Virginia Bird Alliance!

Carlyn and Maggie have been birding since about 2021 and are slowly pulling Casey and Ian into it. :) In 2023, Carlyn and Maggie did the Birdathon and saw 59 species.

This year, the team saw 31 species including notably a flock of 62 Whimbrels at Dyke Marsh, wow!

The money raised will help NVBA support bird conservation, habitat restoration, citizen science, outdoor education, and growing native plants. By reporting our finds on eBird, we will do a tiny bit to help scientists track bird migration this spring.

We really appreciate anything you can contribute! There are lots of causes that need time, money, and attention right now. So truly anything helps for protecting birds and the environment in NOVA. <3
