Beyond School

Mission: To provide a space for young people where natural learning and growth is allowed to take place through mentoring, self-exploration and community engagement.

Vision:  To build a network of self-directed learners and educators who model how to care about themselves, their community, and the world they live in to everyone they encounter, while aiding in their transition into adulthood, whether college, vocational or entrepreneurial bound.

Philosophy: We believe in a self-directed learning approach to education. Students learn best when they are interested in the content, and students are more interested in content when they have a hand in choosing it. Every student should have the opportunity to discover themselves through true and natural learning. 

Our Location: The Barrow Mansion/St. Matthew's 85 Wayne Street, Jersey City, NJ

Monthly donations are the best way to support our program:

• $10/month - contribute towards utilities/internet

• $25/month - contribute towards field trips

• $50/month - computers/tablets, 3d printer, books, creative software etc.

• $100/month - food and supplies for our culinary students

• $250/month - will cover 10% of our rent

• $1000/month - covers the full cost of a student's experience at Beyond School
