Goal
On November 2, 2022, Hurricane Lisa hit the coast of Belize head-on. The effects were devasting. Hundreds of homes were destroyed and thousands of people and families are still out of running water and power.
Conservation Wild has multiple partners in Belize, including the Community Baboon Sanctuary, the Belize Tapir Project, the Belize Zoo and Ya’axche Conservation Trust. In an effort to support our partners and the people of Belize, we have created this fundraising campaign. 100% of funds raised will be going to our partners and the surrounding communities.
Some of the most immediate needs are debris clearing and a need for food, clothing, blankets, bedding, mattresses, etc. We have set an initial goal of $10,000 to accommodate these needs.
The funds will be used for the needs listed above as well as facilitating the hiring of local individuals to work for cash while contributing to the cleanup of their communities. In addition to hiring helping hands for cleanup, other funding will go towards the costs of fuel and rental equipment necessary for the labor.
Any amount will help and be greatly appreciated. Please consider making a donation today to help the people of Belize recover from this devasting disaster.
