Beckley Fallen Heroes Fund

This fund honors Patrolman Carl Dale Buckland, Sergeant David Lee Lilly, Detective Corporal Charles E. Smith II and Beckley Fireman Steve Horwath. Each of these men died serving the City of Beckley and its citizens. The death of Detective Corporal Chuck Smith in Aug., 2006, led City of Beckley officials to discuss an appropriate way to permanently recognize the sacrifices made by these individuals and their families. Then serving Mayor, Emmett Pugh sought information about establishing a permanent endowment at BAF and the Beckley Common Council voted its approval.
