Be Clean Campaign: Congo Town

Gullah Nation of North America and Platinum Edge Media Charity Launch "Be Clean Campaign" in Congo Town Community

Freetown, Sierra Leone - 

The Gullah Nation of North America, in collaboration with Platinum Edge Media Charity, is proud to announce the launch of the Be Clean Campaign in the Congo Town community of Freetown, Sierra Leone. This international cleaning initiative was launched in August 2017 by the Black Star Action Network International and GNONA, after the devastating mudslides and floods in the Mount Sugar Loaf Community.

The Be Clean Campaign has conducted various community cleanups in over 21 cities, across 3 continents since its launching. And, now, we have partnered with Platinum Edge Media Charity to conduct two cleanings in the Congo Town community in late April 2023 after Islamic EID and the last Saturday in May.

The goal of the Be Clean Campaign is to combat the growing sanitation crisis and spread of water-borne diseases during the rainy season. Garbage typically clogs the gutters during this time, causing flooding in the community. Volunteer youth members are set to clean the Congo Town community during the months of April and May 2023, and we are encouraging community members to come out and show their support.
