Every seat in a Beyond Code room is free.

A 17-year-old and a 71-year-old learn AI at the same table. A former pro athlete studies for a certification next to a career changer. No one needs a prerequisite to sit down, and every session has a live teacher. Free means somebody held that seat before the person who sat in it arrived.

Why we exist

Tech has a well-funded front end and a starved middle. There is real money to introduce kids to code and real money to place credentialed engineers. Almost everyone else sits in between: the career changer, the out-of-school 19-year-old, the worker whose job is being quietly rewritten by AI, the grandparent handed a phone and no instruction. Beyond Code Collective is the room for the middle. Four generations, one table, built with each community rather than dropped into it.

The moment

  • 27% of U.S. workers now worry technology could make their job obsolete, double what it was in 2017 and up seven points in a single year.

  • Two in three workers say AI has already changed their job. About one in three say their employer offers any AI training at all.

The tools arrived before the invitation did. We're the invitation.

What the room did this year

  • 460+ learners served across our programs.

  • 145 adults completed a Catalyst workforce program.

  • 81.8% pass rate on CompTIA certifications among Catalyst participants.

  • 80% of Center learners reported more confidence with technology.

  • 100% of Center learners taught what they learned to someone else.
