Billy Barker’s legendary gold strike on Williams Creek sparked a multi-billion-dollar industrial revolution that helped build the province of British Columbia. Today, the historic town of Barkerville stands as a living testament to BC’s golden beginnings. Operated by the Barkerville Heritage Trust on behalf of the Province of British Columbia, this National Historic Site relies heavily on visitor revenue and community support as a non-profit charity.
The Adopt a Day campaign offers a meaningful way for partners to get involved by sponsoring Barkerville, British Columbia’s largest living history museum, for a day. Donations directly support Barkerville’s beloved programming and services during the Main Season.
With a tax-deductible donation, sponsors “adopt” a day at Barkerville and receive theatre tickets, recognition on Barkerville's social media channels and website, and special thanks during their adopted day’s programming. Supporters also gain visibility on the Barkerville's donor wall and an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. There is also the option to adopt a weekend or one of the special event, such as Dominion Day, the Indigenous Peoples' Celebration, the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, or Olde-Fashioned Christmas.
Funds raised through Adopt a Day help sustain Barkerville’s live interpreters, shows, tours, and visitor services. By bringing history to life, Barkerville educates and inspires nearly 40,000 visitors annually about British Columbia’s rich heritage.
