April marks the beginning of an exciting new school year for a Kenyan child - another year to engage with new teachers, learn new subjects, and grow alongside their peers. 

But after they reach 8th Grade, many lower-income youth in Kenya cannot go #BackToSchool. Secondary school fees are too expensive for their families, and nearly 30% of them fail to reach this level nationwide. Without this education, Kenyans will earn less than their peers with secondary degrees, and their children have more limited educational opportunities as well. 

Better Me Education Fund (BMEF)

To break this devastating cycle, Better Me’s Education Fund allows 129 young people to reach secondary school by paying their tuition costs, boarding expenses and other obligations. The fund has blossomed into a $28,100 (€25,000) initiative, providing vital support, that reduces the financial burden on their families and empowers them to achieve better livelihoods in the years to come.
