Goal

I have some really exciting news to share. This summer, I’ve been given the incredible honor of volunteering with American Youth Understanding Diabetes Abroad (AYUDA) in the Dominican Republic. This is my first time working with this organization, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve a community that is so close to my heart.

For those of you who know me well, you know that this isn't just a volunteer project for me, it’s personal. Living with Type 1 diabetes myself, I understand the daily hurdles and the mental toll this condition can take. But I also know how much a supportive community can change your life. That’s exactly why I’ve set my sights on becoming a pediatric endocrinologist. I want to spend my life helping kids and teens navigate their diagnoses, and I see this summer as a vital step toward that goal.

In the Dominican Republic, AYUDA works alongside their local partner, Aprendiendo a Vivir (Learning to Live). We aren't just going there to hand out supplies; we’re working as "catalysts" in a peer-leadership model. We’ll be on the ground implementing community education and outreach programs that empower local youth to take charge of their health in a way that is sustainable for the long haul.

The catch is that AYUDA is a grassroots, volunteer-driven organization. They rely on us to raise the funds needed to run these programs and sponsor local projects. Without our individual dedication to fundraising, these initiatives simply wouldn't happen.

I’m headed to the DR on July 18th, but the real work starts now. I would be so appreciative if you would consider supporting my mission. Any donation you make is tax-deductible and goes directly toward ensuring these families have the tools and education they need to live happy, healthy lives.

Whether it’s $5 or $50, every bit helps me reach my goal and supports a cause that means the world to me. Thank you so much for being part of this journey with me!
