Goal
I traveled to the Dominican Republic as a volunteer in 2022. This incredible program was beyond my wildest dreams. I had the best time and am honored to have been able to meet people who have been a part of this program for so long. My experience in the DR and the people I meet were so incredible, and I am thrilled to continue working with AYUDA and be returning as a Volunteer Mentor!
AYUDA’s work is so inspiring to me because as a youth volunteer, I am empowered to promote real change in the world and in the lives of people in the diabetes community. As a person living with type 1 diabetes myself, I am so grateful for all of the resources available to me and am grateful for the opportunity to help those who don’t have the same tools available to them. Working with AAV (Aprendiendo A Vivir), AYUDA’s partner organization in the DR, I spent my days planning for and running our 3-days of Campo Amigo, where we led kids of all ages in activities we designed to be fun, educational, and show that living with diabetes can not stop you and that you are never alone living with t1d. It was incredible to be able to be a part of communicating and working on a team with volunteers from all over the U.S. and DR!
I have been volunteering with AYUDA since 2020, and I’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who supported me and my adventures with AYUDA, your contributions make AYUDA’s programs possible !!
AYUDA is a volunteer-centric organization, and requires fundraising from volunteers in order to run! My goal is to raise $7,000 for AYUDA and our work to support people living with type one diabetes. Everyone deserves to have the best tools possible to be healthy, and I am so excited to be a part of a program that is working to make that vision a reality.
Please consider supporting my work this summer and the amazing work AYUDA does by making a contribution. Your donation is tax-deductible and quick and easy to make online. Your support ensures that local diabetes programs will continue to thrive and that young people in these communities will have access to education and tools that will help them live happier, healthier lives with diabetes. A donation of any size makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.
