Goal
ayeMail is dedicated to Scottish independence. Over the past four years, we have produced and distributed millions of pro-independence leaflets, tens of thousands of pro-indy flags and badges, and thousands of t-shirts – all on a not-for-profit basis to help Yes groups persuade Scots to vote Yes to independence.
However, the current COVID-19 crisis now threatens our survival. While obviously the national focus right now is absolutely on saving as many lives as possible and protecting our invaluable NHS, the lock-down has meant that our essential income from distribution of leaflets, flags, banners and other campaign materials has completely evaporated.
Normally our operation is subsidised by selling badges, t-shirts, mugs etc at pro-indy marches throughout the year – but there are now (quite rightly) no marches or large pro-indy gatherings as we all do our bit to fight the spread of Coronavirus. As it stands, without new funding, ayeMail will have to close down in a matter of weeks.
Obviously we don’t want this, and we are looking forward to a time when the restrictions on gathering and movement are lifted and we can get back to providing Yes groups with the campaign materials that they need to persuade voters. But the reality is that right now we have no income and the ongoing bills are mounting rapidly.
We urgently need £6,500 just to keep the lights on and to pay the bills over the next few months. We hope by that time that the bulk of the Coronavirus pandemic will have passed – although we need to be clear to everybody that the health and economic impacts of COVID-19 are likely to with us for some years. As Nicola Sturgeon has said, we are all now “looking for a new normal”.
We appreciate that now is the worst possible time to ask people for money, especially as so many have lost their own jobs or been furloughed. However, the COVID pandemic will pass, and ayeMail will be needed to support the independence campaign with information and materials once the crisis has abated, and we can only do that with your help.
If you have a few spare quid, please consider supporting us and a future independent Scotland.
Thanks.
