Goal
Summary
A River Blue (ARB) is a nonprofit nongovernmental organization (NGO) that was founded in the Alebtong District of Northern Uganda in 2010. The mission of ARB is to improve the quality of life in the region through the strengthening of economic and social systems. ARB provides young people with the necessary education and entrepreneurship resources in order to empower future generations of Ugandans and combat poverty.
Challenge
ARB has carried out a pilot project to install a low-cost micro-irrigation system that is attached to a solar-powered water pumping facility. This system was created to provide a reliable and economical means of irrigation in order to tackle problems of food shortage and poverty in the Alebtong District of Northern Uganda. Thus far, 120 women have been trained with this technology to grow crops during the annual, six-month-long dry season in the region.
Solution
The proposal is to train additional 60 young women with the micro-irrigation system and provide opportunities for external visits and trainings.
How can YOU help?
Your donation will be used to purchase vegetable seeds and agro-chemicals in order to train the women with this technology. You can also share your expertise in high value vegetable production and value addition through virtual (online) consultations. Alternatively, you can sponsor external visits and trainings for these ladies.
