Goal
Last year Walker Memorial Academy launched what it hoped would be an Annual Spiritual Retreat for high school students. This event allowed the upper-grade students to get away from campus and their familiar surroundings and enjoy each other’s company in a more relaxed atmosphere. Leaving their schoolwork, electronics, and responsibilities behind, they were able to relax and enjoy the activities we had planned for them in a natural setting.
We were able to do bond-building activities, nature exploration, recreation, and most importantly spiritual exercises to help them to build a more personal relationship with their Lord and Savior. For many of our students, this is a new experience.
Unfortunately, it is expensive to house and feed 60 teenagers. In order to keep our transportation costs down we are working with a local camp, Camp Wingman, to host our retreat this year. With that, the cost of housing, food, and activity supervision will still be close to $13,000.
We had a surplus of $5000 from last year and a matching grant of $2500 to start us off. If you would be able to help meet our goal of raising $6000, we could guarantee our students another retreat for this school year. Any additional funds raised will be applied to next year’s retreat!
It is a blessing for us to be able to take the time every year and concentrate solely on introducing our students to the one person who will make the most difference in their lives, Jesus!
Thank you for your generosity and love!
