Membership Requirements
ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP Section I: Classification of Members.
There shall be two classes of members: Full Members and Honorary Members. A full member may be classified as Active or Inactive as stipulated in the bylaws. (a) Full membership is conferred upon: 1.) All Bakweri and other indigenous peoples of Fako Division in the Republic of Cameroon (including the Womboko, Balong and Mungo ethnic groups and the Bakolle of Bamusso area who have been placed in neighboring divisions for administrative purposes) who are resident in the United States of America, and who satisfy the registration requirements as stipulated in the bylaws. 2.) Spouses of Full Members, who are not from a Fako ethnic group. They shall automatically obtain Full Membership status as a derivative of marriage, upon satisfying the registration requirements as stipulated in the bylaws. They shall have the same rights and obligations as every other Full Member. 3.) Persons who do not fall within the two aforementioned categories will be entitled to Full Membership status if they meet ALL of the following minimum requirements: i.) Are born in Fako and have lived in Fako for a continual period of at least 10 years. ii.) Are a direct member of a family that has maintained its primary residence in Fako for the last two (2) generations
Section II: Membership eligibility requirements.
(a) To become a Full Member, an eligible member must satisfy the following conditions:
1. Pay all membership dues as determined by the Convention 2. Abide by Corporation’s goals, objectives and rules.
Section III: Fees and dues. The Board shall ratify the annual dues determined by the annual convention. Annual dues shall be payable during or in advance of the annual convention. The executive committee will determine the method of collecting the dues. The financial secretary in collaboration with the treasurer shall notify members to renew their membership within 60 days prior to the convention. To continue membership, members shall have 30 days after the convention to pay membership dues. After 30 days of the end of a convention, membership shall be terminated for all members of previous year that failed to renew.
