Goal
I want to introduce you to Leemur. She was a Pagoda cat like many others in Siem Reap: tiny and sick with a very weak immune system doe to malnourishment and infection. Her mother probably got dropped at Wat Pren or is a pagoda kitten herself. She probably never got neutered. Leemur shares the destiny of many other strays in Siem Reap: Nobody cares even if she is apparently sick an very likely to die. But little Oishi was saved by volunteers of Animal Emergency Siem Reap. She was taken to the vet, got propper treatment and of course a lot of tender loving care at a foster home. Today she is very likely to survive and develop to be a healthy adult cat (although we are hoping that she will keep her huge eyes and big ears). For the small amount of about 25,00$ + Food, little Leemur survived. In order to save more animals we are trying to establish a 24 hours emergency service for sick and injured strays. Please share your thoughts about this on our Facebook page
Objectives
- We want to make sure that everyone who finds an animal can bring it to a vet without paying the expenses. We need an animal emergency service fund which pays for vets and medical treatment. This should encourage local people, tourist and expats to take action.
- We want to buy basic medicine and food for stray animals. There are already a lot of people who visit pagoda animals on a regular basis, but most of them pay the expenses themselves
- On then long term we want to establish an animal shelter with a 24hours emergency service. This includes qualiefed staff. Local people need to be involved and trained in order to increase public awareness of animal wellfare.
