Goal

Andrew is a devoted single father of 3 children Laysee (12), Ty (11), and Kiara (8). On December 15, 2018,  just 10 days before Christmas, Andrew was injured in a RZR accident resulting in a broken back. After being injured, Andrew was unable to move from the waist down or feel his legs at all.

Andrew was taken from the crash site to Nephi Hospital where the staff determined he had shattered his T12 vertebrae, fractured his T11, and required immediate surgery to take the pressure off his spinal cord or risk permanent paralysis. The longer the pressure remained, the higher the chance of NEVER regaining function in his legs he faced. Andrew was life-flighted to Utah Valley Hospital in Provo for emergency surgery that night where surgeons were able to take the pressure off his spinal cord and repair his broken back. They made about an 8-inch incision and repairs were made using rods and screws.

The initial surgery was successful at relieving the spinal cord pressure, however, his journey in addressing his feeling and function in his legs is just beginning. Last week, Andrew was transferred to the University of Utah to begin his 3-4 weeks of in-hospital Physical Therapy. After that, he is looking at at least 3-6 months of outpatient recovery. Andrew now has feeling in his quads and can move his upper leg muscles a little bit. He struggles with being able to feel or move anything from the knee down, and cannot walk. We remain hopeful that he will regain more function and be able to walk again, but only time will tell.

With Andrew's ambulance ride, life-flight, emergency surgery, and month-long in-hospital stay, the medical bills are piling up even with decent medical insurance. Plus, we don't know what future home modifications or medical equipment he will need in the future. If you are able, we would be incredibly grateful for a donation, no matter how small to help ease the financial burden. All funds contributed will be used to help with Andrew's medical costs and loss of work. If you would like to make a donation in person, a donation account has been set up at Mountain America Credit Union. Simply go into the bank and tell them it is for Andrews Garnett's donation account.  If you cannot donate, please consider SHARING to spread the word.

Andrew and his family thank you for your well wishes and generosity!  Please continue to keep Andrew and his kiddos in your prayers, they miss their daddy!
