Our objective is to condition the Biocontacto Biopark as a public space with zero discrimination towards people with disabilities for Environmental Interpretation for therapeutic and recreational purposes; in terms of friendly mobility, orientation and therapeutic objectives.

Hence, our initiative consists on developing within our Biopark a pilot and replicable project of a path for Environmental Interpretation developed especially for people with VISUAL, HEARING, MOTOR, and COGNITIVE IMPAREMENT , where the use of the 5 senses through elements of minimal impact, relying on technology, landscaping and guided orientation. The project addresses the needs of people with disabilities from two points of view: Mobility and Orientation. Mobility will be represented by elements that favor friendly movement without restrictions, safely and with minimal assistance. The orientation is determined by the use of specialized landscaping, supported by minimal impact technology that allows the display of sounds, smells, textures, flavors and visual elements that allow the person with disabilities to orient themselves within the park with minimal assistance and allowing the connection with the environment, achieving an enriching, sensitizing, recreational and stimulating experience that serves as a complementary therapeutic tool for the incorporation of people with disabilities into society.

This is a 8,000 USD project operating throughout the year to serve an estimated population between 10 and 12 thousand people in the state of Merida with some type of disability.
