Goal
For over 15 years, through the Amoria Bond Charitable Trust, we’ve been working with Project Peru to support community projects in the shantytown region of Las Laderas. Over that time we’ve built over 100 homes, 3 soup kitchens and assisted in the expansion of a children’s refuge, in addition to delivering hundreds of care packages every Christmas.
The work we do there not only supports the community in one of the world’s poorest regions, but creates local jobs for builders, tradespeople, teachers and refuge staff.
The refuge is run by Project Peru, providing a safe place for vulnerable children from impoverished families and often tragic and heart-breaking circumstances. It's entirely staffed by local people and volunteers and relies entirely on donations as it recieves zero government support or funding.
The houses we build are simple, but provide an essential protective space for the people who live there - a shelter with locking doors and a place to sleep is more than many people in Las Laderas can enjoy.
This June, we'll be returning for our sixth trip, where a team of volunteers from across Amoria Group's global offices will once again be working with the people who live in the region on new building projects, including more houses. The work is tough, but rewarding, and those volunteers who have been before know how important it is to the people who live in the region.
The volunteer trip is entirely self-funded, so by donating you're contributing to the work and materials that will go into building these houses.
