Invest In a More Connected America
American Exchange Project is on a mission to transform the way young people experience this country. Imagine a world where high school seniors from every corner of the country have the opportunity to travel to a hometown completely different from their own—meeting new people, experiencing different ways of life, and forging meaningful, durable connections. This is the vision of American Exchange Project: to make free domestic senior exchanges a civic rite of passage for future generations.
Why does this matter? Because our nation contains multitudes, and that's one of its greatest strengths. When young people learn to appreciate the unique stories, traditions, and challenges of communities different from their own, they don’t just grow as individuals—they become the empathetic, understanding leaders our future needs. American Exchange Project participants leave their exchanges with broadened horizons, lifelong friendships, and a deeper commitment to building a more connected America.
Your support makes this vision possible. Together, we can create life-changing experiences for students and pave the way for a stronger, more empathetic future. Donate today, and be part of the movement.
With Gratitude,
The American Exchange Project Team

We raised funds for AEP as part of a course in the UCA Honors College, which is specifically focused on issues of community in all its forms. Your organization, and your staff, inspired us! We were so happy to share in and spread its message.

I tried but failed to facilitate some connections, so I am left with the old codgers' next best shot--a donation. (I talked to Paul Solman, my best friend in high school, about Florida and Alaska. You got there, but not through me.)

I saw a segment on CNS Sunday Morning about this program and immediately wanted to support this cause. I am a university professor and am constantly hoping for a better future for my students and fearing for the survival of democracy. These young people are the future and deserve to thrive in a less divided, more tolerant environment. Thank you for what you are providing for these young people!

I have truly believed in exposure to others as a way of life since I was young. Thank you for this fantastic program and I truly love your mission. My daily mantra has been from the following poem by an unknown author in the book "Something To Live By" collected and annotated by Dorothea S. Kopplin, page 76. If I knew you and you knew me, If both of us could clearly see And with an inner sight divine The meaning of your heart and mine I'm sure that we should differ less And clasp our hands in friendliness. If I knew you and you knew me, As each one knows his own self, we Could look each other in the face And see therein a truer grace. Life has so many hidden woes, So many thorns for every rose; The "why" of things our hearts would see If I knew you and you knew me

I saw the 60 Minutes segment. I was so impressed by David McCullough. I am in full agreement with his view of our current social climate and his vision for a better future that I want to contribute.

What a wonderful organization. It can help strengthen the torn fabric of our riven country. Born, raised and schooled in New England, as a junior in college I chose to become an exchange student at University of New Mexico, rather than in Europe at Oxford or Bologna, knowing I'd visit Europe later, but asking myself when would I have the opportunity to live in and explore the southwest? It was life-changing. Thank you and good luck.
